Construction
This is the most durable DI on the market, as shown by the demo videos on Countryman's website, 5 tons of pressure can be placed on the casing and the case will not collapse. The case protects the inner section of the unit which slides out like a drawer with removal of the screw located on the underside of the box. This is necessary from time to time because this is an active DI and operates off a 9V battery.
As you can see this Countryman Type 85 is relatively simple in terms of design. In terms quality of manufacturing the solder points are very clean and the overall quality in the electronic work is well done.
Incredibly accurate tone: What you put into this unit is what you get out of it. Thus making this ideal for reamping guitars or bass.
Our research and testing revealed that the unit works best with guitar
that are equipped with passive pickups. We did not particular favor this
DI for use with active pickups, for this scenario we would recommend a
passive DI.
